Coastal Quang Ngai Ecological Urban Area

A 94-hectare waterfront development located at the confluence of the Phuoc Giang, Ve and Tra Khuc rivers in the Thu Nghia District of Quang Ngai Province, the Coastal Quang Ngai Ecological Urban Area is positioned within a unique estuarine landscape. Leveraging its coastal setting, rich ecological assets and cultural heritage to create a sustainable, community-focused destination, the project is designed to support regional growth and emerging industries through the provision of new residential, tourism and commercial opportunities, enhancing local livelihoods.

Accommodating approximately 5,000 residents and up to 3,000 daily visitors, the master plan integrates nature, recreation and urban living, celebrating the region’s water-based and fishing traditions to foster a vibrant tourism economy rooted in local identity. Around 30% of the site is dedicated to green-blue infrastructure, including mangrove forests, wetlands, parks, and riparian corridors that enhance biodiversity, improve public spaces and strengthen climate resilience.

Beyond creating a unique ecotourism destination, the restoration of mangrove habitats supports biodiversity, protects shorelines from erosion, and sustains local aquaculture and fishing activities. With this foundation, the signature Mangrove Park showcases Quang Ngai’s distinctive white-flowered black mangrove ecosystem while underpinned by a deeper consideration for the natural environment. Conceived with the site’s context in mind, the master plan also embeds flood resilience within the planning scheme in the form of natural drainage systems, bioswales, retention ponds, green buffers, dykes and floodgates. Together, these strategies protect the development while preserving the site’s natural hydrology, presenting a well-considered development integrating nature, community, and sustainable living.
